After months of anticipation and speculation, the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) has won $400 million dollars in highly competitive federal stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The $400 million award from FRA's High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail Program will be used to fund Ohio's much-anticipated 3C "Quick Start" Passenger Rail Plan.
"With this historic announcement by President Obama, Ohio takes a major step toward modernizing our state's transportation infrastructure," said Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, a leading voice for passenger rail in Ohio.
